Aloe hand soap – Product of the week

For this week, I’ve chosen one of those products we just use day in day out and probably don’t think much about. I know I’ve been guilty of getting the cheapest of the cheap in this product because ‘it doesn’t really matter’ and then wondering why my skin is so dry. Yes I’m talking hand soap.

The fantastic aloe hand and face soap is a pearly white squirt of loveliness everytime you wash your hands. Here are the key reasons why I love it so much:

pH neutral

It’s pH balanced so it’s gentle enough to use as a daily facial cleanser.

Suitable for sensitive skin

Because it’s pH balanced, it’s suitable for sensitive skin and even baby skin. I’ve been putting this in my son’s bath because he’s a super delicate little flower and reacts to near enough everything (great joy!).

Facial cleanser

If you suffer from acne, then this is a fantastic daily cleanser for you. It’s deep cleaning, gentle and moisturising so won’t completely dry out your skin. Plus the aloe will prevent new spots from developing because of its antibacterial properties.

Moisturising formula

I wash my hands A LOT. As a mum and as a teacher I’m paranoid about germs and spreading illness so end up washing my hands an awful lot. I can find that this dries my hands out and I then end up using lots of hand lotion. This clever soap has natural moisturising properties which doesn’t completely strip your hands. It leaves your hands felling smooth and moisturised.

Full of aloe

Got any cuts on your hands? This lovely soap is full of aloe so it’ll speed up the recovery process and help avoid any nasty infections from developing.

Cost effective

Most importantly, I like that this is a big bottle that lasts about 2-3 months based on a normal family (although what is normal right?). It means it’s one thing of my list at the supermarket. Or two if you count the hand cream I don’t need to buy. Or three because I also don’t need to buy baby bath. I’m all about the thrifty buying!

Honey, honey, honey! Product of the Week

So this week my product of the week is Forever Living Bee Honey.

One of my wonderful customers ordered it and has already given some amazing feedback about the taste (Check out my facebook to see her review) but it got me thinking about all of the health benefits of honey. After writing this and reading my customer’s review of the taste, I have already put my order in for my pure honey.

1. Treating infections

Honey has natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which act as a shield against infections. If the infection is internal, take a spoonful a day (especially effective on mouth/throat infections). If the infection is external, apply some honey topically and cover with a piece of gauze to prevent everything else from getting sticky.

2. Lowering cholesterol

In recent years, the disastrous effects of high (bad) cholesterol have been highly publicised. But did you know that honey can reduce bad cholesterol? AND even improve good cholesterol? Just one tablespoon a day for a month and you will notice a difference in your levels.

3. Stomach problems

Because it fights germs and has antioxidant properties, take a spoonful of honey a day (even better if its diluted in warm water) can help to cure stomach complications. The best thing is that there are no side effects so it’s safe for children (over 1 year of age) and it’s delicious at the same time.

4. Energy Boost

Due to its naturally occuring antioxidants, honey works wonders for energy levels and also boosting your immune system. One spoonful of honey every day in the colder months can even stave off colds. Perfect for mums who don’t have time to stop!

5. Skincare

Apply honey directly on to spots and its antibacterial and antiseptic properties will help them heal quickly. It can also reduce the appearance of acne scars by applying it and leaving it overnight. It’s also great for a natural exfoliating scrub when mixed with oatmeal.

6. Weight Loss

Having a spoonful of honey every morning reduces sugar cravings for the rest of the day. Fantastic for those of us who need a sugar boost!

7. Morning sickness/nausea

Feeling sick is the worst. It affects every aspect of your life. But a drink made up of a spoonful of honey, warm water and lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar) before bed should relieve feelings of nausea and prevent vomiting.

8. Soothing for asthma sufferers

Honey is fantastic for coughs and throat infections and it can also soothe mucous membranes and prevent mucus buildup which is a symptom of asthma. This can provide some relief for sufferers.

9. Dandruff

Use honey as a hair mask for an hour once a week for a month and you will notice a dramatic difference in dandruff flakes. The overall condition of your hair will also be improved.

10. Diabetics

A healthy alternative to artificial sweeteners, honey doesn’t increase the sugar in the bloodstream and it is safe for diabetics. Always best to check with your doctor if you suffer from a long term health condition though.

Aloe Vera Gelly – Product of the week 12th July 2018

It cannot be denied that the Aloe Vera plant is one of the best natural products because it has a multitude of uses. It naturally produces a minimum of six antiseptics which can fight against bacteria, viruses, mould and fungi. I’ve chosen it as my product of the week because it’s been a life saver for me in this heatwave but to just use it for sunburn is to massively underestimate its capabilities.

21 Uses of Aloe Vera Gelly

1. A refreshing and moisturising facial. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes while relaxing (or doing other jobs more likely!) and then rinse off to find your face’s natural moisture and plumpness has been restored!

2. A cooling body massage. Use on yourself to massage tired and aching legs or even better if you can ask someone else to rub it into your painful back, shoulders or neck. The cooling qualities help to relieve pain.

3. Apply to burns or scalds to promote healing.

4. Reduce the appearance of bruises by massaging gel into the area.

5. Apply to athlete’s foot and other fungal infections. The natural antiseptic properties will promote healing.

6. Regularly dab on to cold sores to combat the heroes virus.

7. Soothe sunburn, prickly heat or heat rash with the soothing properties.

8. Treat insect bites and stings.

9. Use as a deep conditioner for your hair. Once a week leave it on for 20-30 minutes then wash out.

10. Soften hard skin on feet by applying a layer of gel every day and leaving it for 15 minutes to sink it.

11. Soothe psoriasis, eczema and dry skin conditions with the deep moisturising properties.

12. Calm and soothe acne.

13. Relieve the pain of blisters.

14. Soothe skin irritations and allergic reactions.

15. Apply in pregnancy to avoid stretch marks.

16. Apply nightly to plump skin and reduce wrinkles.

17. Apply below the eyes overnight to reduce dark circles.

18. Get rid of dandruff with a 15 minute hair mask once a week.

19. Remove make up gently.

20. Promote hair growth by massaging into your scalp.

21. Apply to gums of teething babies to cool and ease pain.

Do you use aloe Vera gel for anything else that I’ve missed? I’d love to hear some more diverse uses for this wonderful product!

Mums supporting mums

Ever since I started this business journey, I’ve been blown away by how supportive other mums are of each other. It’s amazing how a group of people with nothing in common other than being the owners of tiny humans can really join together to be a huge support network.

I was, along with some other inspiring women, asked to complete a short interview for an up and coming mummy blog all about ‘why mums hustle hard?’ I had a great time answering the questions and reflecting on my motivations.

What’s stopping you reaching your goals?

Top 5 post partum products

No matter how much you loved (or hated) being pregnant, it’s a fact of life that it has a huge impact on our bodies. It takes well over a year for our bodies to get back to ‘normal’ after our little bundles are born. After you’ve had a baby, this just seems like cruelty. We’ve already been through enough as mummas, now we’ve got sleepless nights AND postpartum troubles?! What is this??

Well, here are my top five products that I used to help me get back to some resemblance of normality.

1. Aloe Vera drinking gel – Packed full of nutrients and now made from 99.7% pure leaf extract, this daily shot of goodness helped me get my mojo back! Baby bum has been a notoriously bad sleeper (although we are getting there now by rubbing Aloe heat lotion on his feet before bed) and it was KILLING me! My daily drinking gel has given me a huge energy boost, helped to clear my acne prone skin, and also helped to even out my digestive system because I was experiencing IBS type symptoms. This is my wonder product especially because it takes two seconds in the morning. Let’s face it there’s never any time in the mornings!

2. Active probiotic – I took this in my second month post partum. Just the general squashing of my insides by baby bum really messed with my digestive system. I experienced IBS symptoms swinging from constipation to the other extreme. After a month’s course of this probiotic and then moving on to my drinking gel, I have no digestive issues anymore. Hurrah!

3. Shower scrub – All of my body was affected by pregnancy but the strangest thing was my legs were super dry. I use this twice a week now and I’ve noticed such a huge difference. The scaliness has gone and I feel confident enough to show my legs off in clothing which I didn’t think I would ever do again. Also, the jojoba beads in this scrub are completely environmentally friendly.

4. Jojoba shampoo and conditioner – I noticed my hair was much greasier post partum (probably from running my fingers through it all the time because I’m so stressed!). I used to always use salon brands because I really love my hair and wanted to use the absolute best products. I tried this shampoo and conditioner after a recommendation from another business owner and I’m so glad I did. I’m now only washing my hair twice a week instead of every other day. I’m saving time and my hair is looking healthier.

5. Brightening tooth gel – Being sick everyday certainly had a huge impact on my teeth. Brushing my teeth while pregnant made me sick (well everything made me sick but this especially) so I had a bit of a build up of plaque. Plus bleeding gums which seems to affect everyone I’ve spoken to. This tooth gel is brightening (always a bonus) but also soothes gums with aloe and bee propolis which was just what I needed!
